MILLBRAE FALL BALL INTRODUCTION

Good Greetings, Players & Parents!

I am writing on behalf of the coaches of the Millbrae Summer Baseball Program.  We have the pleasure of coaching your child’s team this fall season.  We are reaching out so that, at the very least, you know your child has been assigned to a team and to give you an idea of how the season will shape up.  Please note that our assigned practice days and time slots are Fridays  at Lower Green Hills and Saturday at Upper Green Hills. Practice schedule and times will be TBD.  Our games will be on Sundays; game times will be posted on SportsEngine.  We have a total of 45 players signed up between the ages of 6-11 and we will be splitting the group of players into three teams based on age, experience, and ability.  Further, we have a fabulous group of coaches who have been with Millbrae baseball for quite a few years who are dedicated to building a quality program that will yield great results for each participant.  All of our players will practice together to get the most beneficial experience possible, between all ages, to develop both physical as well as intellectual appreciation of not only baseball but life lessons beyond.

With all of that being said, speaking on behalf of all coaches, we are very excited to be coaching again this season.  Many of us have been involved with the game for our entire lives.  We have coached many age groups over the years after our own playing days were done.  We enjoy this age group quite a bit as the kids are, for the most part, eager to learn, energetic, and improvements are seen rapidly, giving kids a feeling of success.

There will be four primary objectives that we, as coaches, will focus on throughout the course or the season:

 1.            Learn and develop the proper fundamental techniques and language of baseball

2.            Have the kids receive the tools and skillsets necessary to find both individual and team successes, regardless of degree

3.            Learn what it means to be a great teammate

4.            Have a lot of fun!

You will notice that winning will not be a primary objective.  For those that have children moving up from one division to another, please know that this will be a more competitive environment and there will be higher expectations as it pertains to effort, energy, and engagement; wins will most certainly be sought.  However, winning will not at the expense of any of the aforementioned.   The scores of games and win/loss records will be quickly forgotten; the objectives listed above, when accomplished, can last a lifetime.  Further, please note that I have three primary rules while on the field that we are looking to be followed:

 1.            Pay attention and listen to coaches when doing drills and do not be a distraction to others (engagement)

2.            Try your hardest always (effort)

3.            Have a lot of fun!

Further, a big part of a having a successful season will come from you, the parents.  We have some rules for you as well:

  1.     Please have your child at each practice and game ready to go at the designated time with the proper equipment.
  • If you have any questions about what equipment is necessary, please ask and we will help
  1.    Please help in supporting a positive environment.  Discouraging language and/or arguing with umpires or opposing coaches will never be tolerated
  2.    Have a lot of fun!  Please understand my primary objectives and help support and reinforce them at home

We already have a great group of coaches though there is no such thing as too much help or involvement on or off the field.  If you want to help in any way it will be appreciated.  There is no need for any sort of experience.  We promise that we can teach you everything you need to know if you want to help.  If this is something you are interested in, please reply back and indicate which capacity you would be looking to help.

Also, please reply and confirm the best contact phone numbers for your family as well as your names (parents/guardians) and any additional e-mail addresses you would like to use as we only have limited information for some families.

We look forward to meeting you and you children soon.  Please reach out to us should you have any questions.

Regards,

 Rick Angelini
