Dear Pape Meat Parents,

As the regular season winds down and we near playoffs, we hope you have all seen the growth and development in all of our players. As I mentioned at the beginning of the season, my philosophy in coaching is based on meeting the kids where they are at, instilling leadership, joy in the game, competitive spirit, and trying to be as fair with diamond time as possible. To this end, it has been appropriate for the, second year, older players to learn some of the nuances of the infield time and, the first year, younger players get time to develop important skills in the outfield. At times, we have been conscious about placing some of the mid-younger players at infield positions while, at the same time, trying to stay competitive. We have been very pleased with how the kids have responded and bonded together this season!

Now that the all of our players have had some time for growth, for the last games of the season we feel it is safe and appropriate to give some of our younger kids experience with playing the infield. To further instill the joy in the game, we would like to make the dreams of our youngsters come true! This will be valuable experience that they will take forward to next season when they will be, second year, bigger leaders on their respective teams, and expected to man some of the infield positions. If you have concerns with the safety of your player, please let us know as we will do our best to ensure that their safety is still our top priority.

As for the playoffs, we will rotate back to more aggressive positioning with aims of getting as far into the playoff brackets as possible.

As usual, we’re looking forward to great games!

Thank you all for supporting our team this season,
Your coaching crew
